Vidya Balan is an Indian actress born on January 1st,1978 in Kerala. Though Vidya is a Tamilian, she is multilingual and is comfortable speaking Tamil, Malyalam, Hindi, English, Marathi and Bengali as well.She started her acting career at the age of 16 with the TV show "Hum Paanch". Her film debut was in the hit Bengali film Bhalo Theko in 2003. She made her bollywood debut with Parineeta in 2006. For her role in Paa 2009 she got rave reviews from critcs as well as audience. Her roles in movies like No one killed Jessica, The dirty picture and Kahaani have further established her as one of the leading contemporary actresses of hindi cinema. She has proved that you don't need the crutch of false glamour to sell a movie to the public. For her extraordinary performances she has been awarded with 1 National Film Award, 5 Filmfare awrds and 5 screen awards. She is married to Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures.
