, , No Comments
Coonoor, though relatively untouched and unexplored, is one of the best places that you can visit in the month of September.Coonoor is one of the three Nilgiri hill stations – Ooty, Kotagiri and Coonoor – that sit high above the southern plains. It is the second largest hill station in the Nilgiris, surrounded by plantations, at an altitude of 1839 metres.

Coonor is on the toy train line between Mettupalayam and Ooty.  Its climate is milder thanOoty. Thequintessential picturesque hill station of Tamil Nadu presents a splendid mix of attractions that will captivate your senses. On one hand, Lamb’s Rock provides bird’s view of the scenery; on the other hand, the age old Sim’s Park gets you to the world of different species of flora that will amaze you. It is a very popular weekend get away for the people in Coimbatore.

Coonor is essentially a small tea garden town where the weather remains pleasently cool throughout the year. A popular pastime is birdwatching, as an extensive variety of birds can be spotted. It has some fantastic heritage hotels and guesthouses, from which you can do exactly the same kind of things as you would do from bigger, busier Ooty. From upper Coonoor, 1km to 2km above the town centre, you can look down over the sea of red tile rooftops to the slopes beyond and soak up the peace, cool climate and beautiful scenery.

This is the best viewpoint among the ones in coonoor.  The roads leading to Dolphin's nose is well laid but little narrow. Catherine falls will be visibe from Dolphin's nose viewpoint. There is a small tower for a better view. This is located 15 kms away from Coonoor town. There will be lots of Macaques in the viewpoint..

Take a pleasant drive on the misty road passing through the tea estates and fragrant pine forests that leads to the stunning Catherine Falls. Also known as St. Catherine, these Falls are located in Kotagiri that is 17 kms away from Coonoor. Catherine Falls are situated amidst lush green forests where you can enjoy the fresh breeze coming through the Nilgiri Hills. You can enjoy the best view of these Falls from the Dolphin’s Nose view point.

Nestled in the surrounding region ofCoonoor, the Hidden Valley is a popular place to spend your holidays in a perfect way. The picturesque scenery and the tranquil atmosphere of the place will offer a great peace of mind as well as immense pleasure to heart.

Sim's park is a main attraction in coonoor. It is a small well maintained garden that has several varities of plants. It is about 19 kms to the south of Ooty and is accessible by both train and road.
